Good to know before you go
Visa Policy
Check if you need a visa. Many countries have visa-free entry or visa-on-arrival policies.
Currency
The currency is Armenian Dram (AMD). Cash is widely used, but cards are accepted in cities.
Transport
Yandex Go and GG are popular taxi apps. Marshrutkas (minibuses) are cheap for intercity travel.
Safety
Armenia is one of the safest countries in the world with very low crime rates.
Language
Armenian is official. Russian is widely understood. English is common among youth and in tourism.
Water
Tap water is drinkable and delicious in most parts of Armenia. Look for "Pulpulak" drinking fountains.
Connectivity
Sim cards are cheap and 4G coverage is extensive even in remote areas.
Dress Code
Generally modern. Modest clothing (covering shoulders/knees) required when entering churches.
Tipping
10% is standard in restaurants. Sometimes a service charge is already added to the bill.
Best Time to Visit
May-June and September-October offer the most pleasant weather.
Electricity
Armenia uses Type C and Type F plugs (European standard), 230V.
Hospitality
Accept food or coffee if offered by locals; it is a sign of respect and friendship.
